In coastal engineering groynes are an important element to prevent beaches from being washed away.

I love playing with them for photographic reasons.
Placing the light, the shadow they create in a specific way. Use their shape as a geometric divider in the landscape. Admiring the colour of the weathered wood – depending of the light it always looks a bit different.
